We triage all patients looking to attend our practice. Prior to an appointment being confirmed, A/Prof Winder or Dr Lukins will review your referral and radiology reports to ensure we provide you with timely and appropriate care.

When you come for your first visit please remember to bring the following:

  • Referral letter from GP
  • Medicare card, DVA card, Pension Card
  • Have your Private Hospital Insurance information with you.
  • Copies of pathology results or other investigations
  • X-rays, MRI and CT Scans for viewing (if not available electronically)

Workcover patients need approval from their case manager prior to their appointment. A current claim number, contact details of their case manager and approval letters for neurosurgical appointments will need to be provided. Currently only Dr Lukins is seeing Workcover, Medico-Legal and CTP claim patients.

If you do not have private health insurance or are not covered by Workcover, you may book an appointment with A/Prof Winder through the outpatients clinic at St Vincent’s Public Hospital. Please call the outpatients clinic on 02 83823110.

We will send you an SMS reminder prior to your appointment. We ask that you please confirm your appointment via an SMS reply. If you do not have a mobile phone please call the clinic a few days prior to your appointment to confirm. We have many patients waiting for appointments, please contact the rooms as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.

When coming to the preoperative visit, it is a good idea to bring along your notes or any questions you may want to discuss with A/Prof Winder or Dr Lukins.

A/Prof Winder’s and Dr Lukin’s consulting rooms at St Vincent’s Hospital are managed privately and we therefore charge private fees for all consultations. If you would like further information about our fee schedule please contact the rooms. Our payment options include EFTPOS, credit card, cash or cheque.

If you are a new patient, we would suggest you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow time for parking and locating our rooms.
